Dozie Owerri: Sam Amadi, Other Igbo Elders Seek 'equity' Ahead of Imo 2027 Election
In a significant gathering aimed at advocating for political fairness in Imo State, Sam Amadi and other prominent Igbo elders, including Henry Chidi Opara, president of Dozie Owerri Abuja, expressed support for the principle of equity as a means to ensure peace and development ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial elections.

The event, themed the Owerri Heritage, was held on Saturday in Abuja and brought together stakeholders from the Owerri zone and other regions of Imo State.
Sam Amadi, the director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, also a notable figure in the Igbo community, underscored the importance of equitable political representation.
"Owerri people are saying equity will usher in development in Imo State, and I want to thank the governor of Imo State and the council of elders for endorsing the charter of equity, which is what will allow peaceful transition in governance," Amadi stated.
He emphasized that the time has come for the Owerri zone to produce the next governor, signaling a collective agreement among the people of Imo State.
"At this time now in 2027, it is the turn of Owerri zone to provide the governor of Imo State. We have brought in our brothers from Owerri zone, Okigwe, and Orlu zone to celebrate a cultural fiesta of peace and to unite our voices in the call for equity.
"The gathering also sought to highlight the rich cultural heritage of the Igbo people.
"Today's gathering will bring us together to sample our culture, our richness in cultural food, and to talk about the peace and governance of Imo State," he said.
Henry Chidi Opara, the president of Dozie Owerri Abuja, spoke passionately about the ongoing security challenges in the state, saying:
