The gestures swept her off her feet, making her believe she had finally landed the man of her dreams.

On uncountable occasions, the man would ask her to pray for him to make it so they had a good life together.

"As a good girlfriend and potential wife, I went on my knees and made countless prayers for us," she recalled.

Lynne ignored red flags

Smitten and hooked by his well-calculated lines, Lynne missed the flags that would make her notice the moments were just a facade for his deceit.

His frequent work trips "out of the country " were the most glaring red flags," which left her feeling lonely.

She did not know he created the lie to give himself peaceful time away without her reaching out.

To keep his deceit going, the man insisted they communicate through WhatsApp to avoid being caught.

"With WhatsApp GB, no one would know when you are online with its features and settings," she adds, illustrating the extent of his efforts to cover up.

Lynne's world crashed when she became curious one day and called.

To her dismay, the call was answered by a child who told her that the dad was in the shower.

Lynne's "lover" was married with a baby

The child's response shattered her illusions when she asked the baby who "baba" was to confirm her fears.

"She told me the name of my potential then-to-be husband," Lynne remembered.

The betrayal and deceit have scarred Lynne so much that she fears relationships and commitments.
