"We've achieved the extraordinary—delivering twins to Africa's oldest mother, aged 70!" the hospital said in a Facebook post.
The babies were born prematurely at 31 weeks, weighing 1.7kgs each, and had to be placed in incubators in the NICU until they were stable enough to be discharged.
Namukwaya's story made her the oldest mother in Africa to give birth to healthy twins through IVF treatment.
Namukwaya now mother of 3
Weeks after the septuagenarian gave birth, the proud mother let the world into their lives through a video and photos of her babies.
She disclosed that the boy's full name is Kato Shafique Kangave, while the girl is named Shakira Babiyre Nabagala.
Since Ms Namukwaya has another baby girl called Sarah, born in 2020, the pair's addition made her a mother of three.
Namukwaya parted ways with twins' father
Dr Edward Tamale Sali, a fertility specialist at the hospital, told the media that Namukwaya used a donor egg and her partner's seed for the in-vitro fertilisation (IVF) procedure.
She, however, parted ways with the father of her twins because he wasn't comfortable with the development.
"Men don't like to hear that you will have more than one child. Even after I was admitted, my man never showed up," Namukwaya said.
Netizens who learnt about Namukwaya's bundles of joy were happy and thanked God on her behalf, while others wished they were in her position.
