Nigerian Masquerade-Themed Costume Wins Best National Costume at Miss Universe 2021, Stunning Photos Emerge

Nigerian costume fashioned after a local masquerade has been adjudged the best costume at the just-concluded Miss Universe 2021 contest, The Punch reports.

The outfit which won the Best National Costume at the contest held in Eliat Israel was rocked by Nigeria's representative, Maristela Okpala.

The costume wasn't designed by a Nigerian

Legit.ng gathered that the award-winning costume was designed by Filipino designer, Kennedy Jhon Gasper.

Maristela had explained that the costume was inspired by a female Southeastern masquerade called Mmanwa and reflects the strong will of women in attaining enviable heights irrespective of the odds and obstacles.

According to the model, the outfit was made using African beads, crafts and stones.

Miss Universe Pageant is an annual international contest that boasts 500 million viewers in over 190 territories and is one of the most-watched pageants in the world.

It is run by a US-based organization.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Davido's daughter had stunned in a mermaid-inspired Halloween outfit.

Imade and some of her friends looked dashing in different Halloween-inspired looks and Nigerians can't stop talking about the kids.

The daughter of the musician appeared as a mermaid with her long red hair and pink dress that depicts the look of the river goddess.

In one of the videos she shared on her Instagram page she was heard telling one other kid that 'you can lie' and the statement got people talking.
