Father of 3 Yet to be Released 4 Months After he was Abducted in Anambra

  • Harrison Ndubuisi Aronu, a father of 3, was kidnapped on July 31 in Oraifite, Anambra state by yet to be identified people
  • Four months after, his family told Legit.ng they are still trusting God he would be freed one day especially as no one has contacted them to claim responsibility or demand ransom
  • Police did not respond to inquiries concerning the abduction when recently asked what is being done to rescue the victim

A private school owner, Prince Harrison Ndubuisi Aronu, is yet to be released 130 days after he was kidnapped by assailants in Oraifite, Ekwusigo local government area of Anambra state.

Aronu was whisked away by the yet-to-be-identified kidnappers on July 31, 2021, in what has since put his family and beloved in panic.

A colleague of the victim who pleaded anonymity told Legit.ng that the kidnappers are yet to make any contact with the family to make a demand.

The Owners of Private Schools Association of Nigerian (OPSAN) is mounting a spirited social media campaign for the release of the victim who is their vice president of the association.

A member of the association told this publication that the matter has been reported to the police.

He said:

The very first consultation of the CP was done by the managers of the affairs of the school owners. We have been on a daily consultation with the family as well as the recent campaign for his release, which the entire members are engaged in. We are also as an association laying pressure on the state government to show a political will towards finding ways around the circumstances that led to his abduction and subsequently securing his release.

Family traumatised but keeps hope alive

A close family member who spoke to Legit.ng said the family is hoping and believing in a miracle that Prince Harrison will return home for them.

When asked if they have heard anything from the abductors, the answer was "not yet."

Legit.ng contacted the Anambra police command's Public Relations Officer, PPRO Ikenga Tochukwu, but messages sent to his phone were not replied as at the time of filing this report.

In recent times, there has been rising insecurity in Anambra state especially the periods leading to the recently concluded governorship election in the state.

Meanwhile, Legit had reported the kidnap of Obiora Agbasimalo, the governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP).

Agabsimalo was kidnapped hours to elections, in what led to panic among his loyalists in the state.
