Heart of Gold: Customer Returns N118,000 to Bookshop 24hrs After PoS Reversal

Oyo state, Ibadan- In what many people may perceive as abnormal, especially in a country where corruption has taken a centre stage, an Ibadan-based educationist, Saheed Oladele, on Friday, November 12, returned the sum of N118,000 to a book shop in the ancient city after receiving a reversal of the amount which he had paid for books about 24 hours after leaving the bookshop.

Speaking with Legit.ng's Oladele, the CEO, Erudite Millennium Ltd, foremost prevarsity for preparing Nigerians for Cambridge A' Level, SAT, IELTS, GRE and other foreign examinations, said he had gone to a popular bookshop, Mosuro, The Booksellers Ltd in Jericho, Ibadan, on Tuesday, November 9, to buy some new books in his field of study.

He said he has paid the amount for 16 books on neurolinguistics, applied linguistics, etc through a Point of Sale (PoS), machine and left without any traces after he was debited.

Oladele noted that less than 24 hours on Wednesday, November 10, he received a reversal alert of the same amount paid for the books and was disturbed because the bookshop had no means of contacting him.

The man said he was relieved after a friend told him not to bother himself, assuring him that the reversal would be corrected within 24 hours.

He said after waiting for over 24 hours for the reversal to be corrected, he had to walk into the bookshop to return the N118,000 to the booksellers.

Oladele wrote:

“Today, (Friday) I returned N118,000 to the Booksellers at Jericho, Ibadan. I went there on Tuesday to check the latest books in my field.
"Fortunately, I saw a couple of books on neurolinguistics, applied linguistics, etc. I paid for them and left.

“On Wednesday at 1.02 pm, I got a reversal alert of the N118,000 I paid for the books. I was a little disturbed because they had no means of contacting me. However, a friend told me not to bother that the reversal would be corrected within 24 hours.
“I waited and waited; no debit alert! I had to go this afternoon. The staff members were really happy. They said they had never experienced POS reversal."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that a man, Theodore John Conrad, who was 20 years old in July 1969, came to work as a bank teller in America. After his work, he stole $215,000 (N88,182,250) and nobody saw him ever again.

It was reported that the value of the money he stole in today’s value is around $1.7 million (N697,255,000) and the theft is one of the biggest heists in bank robbery history.
