Married Father of 4 Who Lives with a Crocodile Goes Viral, Says it is not Witchcraft that They Are Friends

The village of Kiagala on the outskirts of Lake Nyasa in Tanzania is home to an interesting pair of friends; a man and his pet crocodile.
John Ndugulu, known by his people as Mzee Majoka, owns a 10-month-old crocodile named Ajabu, which he takes care of as a parent does with a child.

It is a bizarre type of friendship, especially given that crocs are known to be vicious reptiles that belong in the wild.
Feeds the croc on fish every day
Mzee Majoka told Ayo TV that he would have loved to keep more crocodiles but his financial position makes it impossible to do so.

The married father of four says that the friendship started when he made it a habit of feeding the crocodiles in the nearby lake.
"You know, every animal tends to get closer to you if you continue feeding it. Not just crocodiles, even birds and livestock," he noted.
Since taking custody of the reptile, Mzee Majoka ensures that he looks for fish every day to make sure the animal is fed.
The croc is trained
He added that as much as the residents of Kiagala live so close to the lake, there have never been cases of crocodile attacks, which is the reason the neighbours do not see anything wrong with him keeping one.
After keeping a crocodile for a while, the old man says he has learnt that the reptiles only become aggressive when hungry, otherwise they respect humans like any other animal.
"You see, a child behaves the way he or she is taught by the parents, that is the same way this I have brought up this reptile," he posited.
On days he has engagements, Mzee Majoka informs his pet to be patient because the food will be late, but he makes sure that he feeds him soon as he gets back.
He also revealed that he has trained the croc to know a designated area around the home for long calls.
Mzee Majoka maintained that the reptile is just like any other pet and has nothing to do with witchcraft.

They control it with a chain and have a mouth-protector of sort that keeps the animal's teeth in check and prevent it from causing anyone harm.
The man named Abu earns a living with his snakes by showcasing it while people sit on the hyena to get cure for ailments.
