70-Year-Old Disabled Pensioner who Voted During Anambra Poll Says She's the Happiest Woman on Earth

A 70-year-old Nigerian woman, Catherine Egbuche, has got many talking on social media after exercising her franchise in the just concluded governorship election in Anambra state despite her disability.

Speaking with Legit TV, the woman said she had been praying to God to give them a governor that will take Anambra to the next level.

According to Egbuche, she retired as a civil servant in the state in 2019 and hasn't been paid her gratuity.

The pensioner said she receives a N20,000 monthly stipend from the state government.

After casting her vote at Community Primary School Amawbia, she told Legit TV that her husband has always been helpful to her despite the fact that he's visually impaired.

In her words:

"My husband is a blind man, and myself I have only one leg, so I am the happiest woman in this world. Because my husband is alive watching us, not seeing us."

Professor Charles Soludo wins Anambra governorship election

Legit.ng earlier reported that Professor Charles Soludo, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), was declared the winner of the November 6 Anambra governorship election.

Professor Florence Obi, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)'s returning officer for the election, on Wednesday, November 10, declared Soludo who polled 112,229 votes as the winner.

Soludo won in 19 of the 21 local government areas in the southeast state.
