The notice, published in the Saturday Independent on January 11, 2025, was labeled as fraudulent and the work of "mischief makers."
The NMC clarified that the notice did not originate from the party and accused Mr. Isaac Chigozie Udeh and Chief Edozie Njoku of being behind the unauthorized publication.
“The public is by this disclaimer informed that the said notice never emanated from the Party and is rather the handiwork of mischief makers,” the NMC stated.
### **Suspended Members Behind the Scheme**
The party emphasized that Mr. Isaac Udeh, who signed the notice as “National Chairman,” is neither a member of the NRM nor its chairman, as he was suspended on September 19, 2024. A vote of no confidence was also passed against him on September 24, 2024.
“Despite his suspension, Mr. Isaac Udeh has perfected plans to convene an illegal, illegitimate, and unauthorized convention of the NRM,” the statement read.
The NMC alleged that the plot is a covert attempt to impose Chief Edozie Njoku as the new National Chairman.
### **Allegations Against Chief Njoku**
The NMC accused Chief Edozie Njoku, a former National Chairman of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), of attempting to hijack the NRM following his removal by the Supreme Court.
“Edozie Njoku, in crass desperation, has boasted that he will deploy his huge resources and connections to intimidate party leaders to achieve his inordinate ambition,” the NMC stated.
The party urged its members and the public to disregard the notice and warned against associating with the unauthorized event.
### **Call for Unity**
“We remain committed to upholding the integrity of the NRM and urge all members to distance themselves from any illegal activities aimed at destabilizing the party,” the NMC concluded.
Efforts to reach Mr. Udeh and Chief Njoku for comments were unsuccessful at the time of publication.
