Yoruba Council Worldwide Rejects Impostor, Reaffirms Support for Tinubu Administration
The Yoruba Council Worldwide, led by Global President Aare Oladotun Hassan Esq., has strongly refuted and condemned a statement attributed to Eric Oluwole, an alleged impostor falsely claiming to represent Yoruba youths.
The Council expressed outrage over the December 8 publication on major platforms, which was described as a deliberate attempt to create confusion and discredit both the Council and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Bashorun Isaac Aderemi Ajibola, the Council emphasized that it is the sole legally recognized umbrella body for Yoruba youths globally.
It labeled Oluwole as a “lie peddler and self-attention seeker,” accusing him of spreading misinformation to gain relevance.
“This monumental embarrassment necessitates clarification. Mr. Oluwole is neither a representative nor affiliated with the Yoruba Council of Youths Worldwide (YCYW). His claims are figments of his imagination and should be disregarded,” the statement read.
The Council also highlighted the achievements of President Tinubu’s administration in youth inclusion, citing numerous appointments of young Nigerians into critical government sectors, including ministers and heads of agencies.
It dismissed Oluwole’s accusations of youth neglect as baseless and politically motivated.
Support for the National Youth Conference
Reiterating its support for the National Youth Conference scheduled for February 2025, the Council described the initiative as a platform to discuss key national issues such as constitutional reforms, education, and economic development.
It commended Youth Minister Com. Ayodele Olawande for his dedication to youth empowerment through innovative programs.
The Council proposed several recommendations for the conference, including:
- A new people’s constitution to replace the 1999 military-era document.
- The establishment of a National Youth Development Commission and a National Youth Trust Fund.
- Increased budgetary allocations for youth and education, with 35% for education and 60% of youth development benefits across government sectors.
- The creation of a Federal Ministry of Chieftaincy and Traditional Affairs to recognize ethnic identities and languages.
- Digitalization of the electoral system to include diaspora voting and a centralized national social security system.
Call for Legal Action Against Impostors
The Yoruba Council Worldwide called on law enforcement agencies to investigate and hold Oluwole accountable for impersonation and misrepresentation.
It urged Nigerians to disregard his statements, emphasizing its unwavering support for Tinubu’s administration and commitment to national development.
“Our focus remains on constructive engagement and advocating for policies that benefit Nigerian youths,” the statement concluded.
