The Inter Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has joined millions of Christians across Nigeria in celebrating this year’s Christmas, describing it as a season of joy, love, and unity that commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ.
Call for Reflection and Unity
In a statement issued by IPAC’s National Publicity Secretary, Mrs. Chinyere Oge-Kalu, the council urged Christians to reflect on the essence of the season.
“This is a time to imbibe the spirit of love, peace, unity, tolerance, and forgiveness as demonstrated by Jesus Christ,” she said.
Oge-Kalu emphasized the need for prayers and patriotism during this festive period.
“As we renew our faith in God, let us also rededicate ourselves to the service of our dear nation. With faith, confidence, and a shared vision of a brighter future, we shall overcome the challenges facing Nigeria,” she added.
Addressing Hunger and Suffering
IPAC expressed deep sorrow over the tragic deaths of citizens during food distribution exercises in Oyo, Anambra, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.
“Our hearts bleed over these irreparable losses, which highlight the extent of hunger in the land,” Oge-Kalu said.
She called on governments at all levels to implement people-focused policies to alleviate suffering and ensure that such tragedies do not recur.
“The best way to honor these fallen citizens is to formulate and implement policies that improve the standard of living and make Nigerians proud anywhere in the world,” she stated.
Responsibilities of Government
The council reiterated the government’s constitutional duty to provide security and improve citizens’ welfare.
“There should be no excuse in discharging this crucial obligation. Nigerians desire and deserve a fair deal from a nation blessed with abundant human and natural resources,” Oge-Kalu said.
A Collective Effort for Nation Building
IPAC called on Nigerians to set aside individual, ethnic, and political differences to unite for the greater good.
“Nation-building is a collective responsibility. Let us come together to create a better society for future generations,” she urged.
