Axis of Hope Initiative Fulfills Pledge to Indigent Students at Government Secondary School, Kubwa

ABUJA – The Axis of Hope Initiative has reaffirmed its commitment to empowering young girls by fulfilling its pledge to pay the WAEC fees of 50 indigent students at Government Secondary School, Phase 4, Kubwa, Abuja.

The organization made the promise during its visit to the school in October 2024 while celebrating the International Day of the Girl Child.

Fulfilling a Promise of Hope

During the visit, Barrister Maxwell Mgbudem, Founder of Axis of Hope Initiative, emphasized the organization's dedication to uplifting young girls and ensuring they have access to quality education.

“We had a pleasant time with the management and students of this great school during our last visit, and we have returned to fulfill the promise we made last October,” Mgbudem stated. “It is obvious that girls all over the world face vulnerabilities such as marginalization, molestation, and r^pe. We are here to change the narrative and give hope to all girls in the country, particularly the students of this school.”

Education: A Pathway to Success

Addressing the students, Mgbudem stressed the importance of education in shaping their future and urged them to remain dedicated to their studies.

“Knowledge is power and a pathway to success and greatness. We encourage you to take your studies seriously, as it will help you develop critical thinking abilities, become informed citizens, and make better decisions,” he said.

The students’ slogan, ‘I want to be great, I want to be great…,’ resonated with the organization’s vision. Mgbudem affirmed, “As you have spoken and believed, it will come to pass. Our joy is to see you become great in this country and abroad. That is why we are here.”

Supporting Indigent Students

As part of its commitment to ensuring that no child is left behind in their pursuit of education, the Axis of Hope Initiative announced that it would cover the WAEC fees of 50 indigent students.

“Education is the right of every child,” Mgbudem affirmed. “It is our pleasure to contribute to their quest for knowledge and their future.”

The initiative’s gesture was met with excitement and gratitude from both the school management and students. The support will enable the beneficiaries to sit for their final examinations and further their academic aspirations.

A Message of Encouragement

Mgbudem assured the students that despite challenges, their future remains bright.

“We assure you that the future is bright despite any current challenges. With God on your side, all obstacles will be surmounted, paving the way for a glorious future,” he said. “We encourage you to study hard. There is no substitute for hard work. Face your studies, and by God's grace, you will come out in flying colors.”
