BREAKING: Bandits Kidnap Federal University Gusau Students
- An unspecified number of students of the Federal University Gusau have been abducted in Zamfara State
- According to locals in the community, the bandits came in the early hours of Friday and started shooting sporadically into the air
- However, six female students were reportedly rescued from the bandits later on the same Friday, and AK47 and other ammunition were recovered
Gusau, Zamfara - Some bandits have reportedly kidnapped an unknown number of Federal University Gusau students early on Friday, September 22.
The Punch reported that a resident in the Sabon Gida area, Nazeer Sabon-Gida, disclosed that the gunmen attacked the community at about 3 a.m. on Friday and started shooting sporadically.
Another residence, Sani, disclosed that the bandits attacked students staying off-campus in the village, adding that most abducted residents were female students.
Over three female hostels in Gusau, Zamfara, came under bandit attacks
According to the eyewitness account, the bandits attacked no less than three students' hostels.

Sani said:
“Many of the kidnapped students were females, while other students were able to escape to the bush”.
According to Sani, the bandits only abducted the university students but did not abduct any residents of the village.
He said:
“When they arrived at the village, they went straight to the students [off campuses] and started shooting sporadically”.
“They later broke into the campuses and brought several students who are mostly females”.
Authorities keep mute as bandits reportedly kidnapped scores of students in Zamfara
The university authority and the state police command both declined to comment.
However, six of the university's abducted female Students were rescued by Operation Hadarin Daji's troops.
The troops killed some armed bandits during the rescue operation.
Operational motorcycles, One AK47 riffle and other items belonging to the Gunmen were also recovered.
