Support Soludo on Rural Development, Asatu Prime Minister Urges Communities in Anambra

  • Residents of Anambra have been urged to support the dream of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo towards making the state the best

In a move that will appeal to many southeasterners, residents of Anambra state have been urged to play complimentary roles in support of Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo towards achieving his dream of a livable homeland for the people.

The call was made by the prime minister of Anambra State Association of Town Unions (ASATU), Ambassador Dr. John Chukwudi Metchie.

He said this while reacting to the decision of communities in Nnewi South to install high-tech digital equipment for the security of lives and property of the area.

It would be recalled that a group known as Nnewi Concerned Citizens, had, during the ‘Nnewi Easter Summit 2023,’ launched New Digital Security project that would cover the communities in the local government.

In a statement made available to Legit.ng, Chief Metchie who doubles as the president general of Umueri Community, commended members of Nnewi Concerned Citizens and the Presidents General of the communities that make up Nnewi South, for what he described as their patriotic gesture which he said, demonstrates their commitment to the betterment of lives of their people.

He therefore urged well-to-do individuals and communities across the state, to emulate the people of Nnewi South by coming up with developmental initiatives for their communities, since, according to him, government alone cannot do everything.

Meanwhile, Charles Soludo charged members of his cabinet ahead of the rerun election in the Ogbaru federal constituency in the state.

According to Daily Independent the governor on Thursday, April 13, charged top government appointees led by his political adviser, Alex Obiogbolu, who met with stakeholders from the Ogbaru Local Government Area and charged them to take the council by all means.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will hold a rerun in the 45 polling units in the Okpoko, Ogbaru and Ossomala communities.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will hold a rerun in the 45 polling units in the Okpoko, Ogbaru and Ossomala communities.

It was further revealed that stakeholders who attended the meeting with Soludo's advisers were threatened if they lost the election.

The paper reported that the meeting was held at the office of the commissioner of local government and chieftaincy matters in the state, Collins Nwabunwanne, where it was agreed that only supporters of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) would be allowed to vote.
