FCT, Abuja - The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced the registration dates for prospective corp members under the 2023 Batch A Stream II exercise.
As reported by Punch, the announcement was made on Saturday, April 8, via the verified Twitter handle of the NYSC.
The tweet disclosed that registration would commence on Tuesday, April 11 and end on Monday, April 17.
The tweet reads:

NYSC at 50: Sport minister constitute organising committee
Meanwhile, Vanguard reported that a 22-man inter-ministerial committee had been constituted by Sunday Dare, the minister for youth and sports development, to stage the 50th anniversary of the scheme.
It was gathered that the committee was set up in March, and the ceremony is slated to hold later in May.

In another development, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has come to stay in Nigeria, according to the federal government.
Sunday Dare, the minister of sports and youth development, on Tuesday, December 20, noted that the NYSC is still very relevant.
Dare said this in reaction to calls that the scheme be scrapped or made optional as some Nigerians feel it should not be compulsory.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has been called upon to ensure that he assents to the NYSC Trust Fund Bill before leaving office on May 29, 2023.
The call was made to the president by a member of Federal Polytechnic Wanune's governing council, Mike Msuaan.
Msuaan said the bill once assented to and becomes law will address some of the challenges facing the NYSC scheme.
