Mumisco: VP Osinbajo’s Mother Celebrated on Her 90th Birthday

Nigerians from all walks of life joined Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the family in Lagos, to celebrate the birthday of Mama Olubisi Osinbajo as she turned 90 today.

The thanksgiving service held at the Cathedral Church of St. Jude, Ebute-Meta featured songs ministration, Voice of Nigeria reports.

According to report, an elated Mama Osinbajo, fondly nicknamed “Mumisco” by her many children, grand and great-grandchildren was full of appreciation and gratitude.

She prayed that everyone at the event would also grow up to be 90 in good health and prosperity.

Leading the special celebration messages for Mama contained in the event brochure is President Muhammadu Buhari who wrote a personal letter to Mama Osinbajo.

On his part, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo said Mama is so exceptional in many respects but there are four things he has learnt from her.

In his sermon at the service, the Bishop of Lagos Mainland Diocese, Rt. Revd. Akinpelu Johnson, recalled Mama and her family's early days at St Jude's Cathedral and particularly her devotion to the service of God.

The general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor E.A. Adeboye who also ministered at the service, prayed for the celebrant, thanked God for her life and asked for God's blessings on her and everyone at the service.

Besides several Nigerians who graced the event, especially members of the church family, top government functionaries and dignitaries were also present.

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiala; Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha; Governor of Lagos state, Babajide Sanwolu; and Governor of Ogun state, Dapo Abiodun attended the service.

Among others who attended the service were the President of the African Development Bank, Dr Akinwumi Adesina; industrialist, Aliko Dangote; and businessman, Femi Otedola.

Mama Olubisi Osinbajo was born on the 16th of February 1933 to Thomas and Victoria Aiyegbayo both of blessed memory.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari extends hearty felicitations to the Osinbajo family on the 90th birthday celebration of their matriarch, Mama Olubisi, February 16.

In a letter he personally signed, the President thanked the celebrant for giving the country illustrious offspring like Vice President ‘Yemi Osinbajo, and his other siblings.

Buhari said:

“It gives me immense pleasure to felicitate with our dear Mama Olubisi Osinbajo, as she turns 90, entering the rare ranks of a nonagenarian."
