The chairman of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu, has on Wednesday, February 8, briefed the Federal Executive Council (FEC), presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.
Also expected to brief Council is the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Alkali Baba, but he was not yet in Council when the meeting commenced by 9:58am, Channels Television reports.
Before Yakubu briefed Council members, a minute silence was observed in honour of Air Commodore Dan Suleiman (retd), a former Minister of Special Duties, under General Yakubu Gowon, The Nation Newspaper added.

The electoral umpire disclosed this as citizens of Nigeria continue to groan as a result of the fuel and cash scarcities. Chairman of INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, who gave the reassurance after briefing the Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday, January 8.
According to him, the Commission has sorted out the challenges initially posed by the scarcities, adding that the commission had already found answers to the two major concerns.

In other news, some youths in the Peoples Democratic Party have announced their plan to commence door-to-door campaigns ahead of the 2023 elections.
The initiative will also mark the end of the Operation Rescue Nigeria 2.0 Project kick-started by the PDP Youth Generation.
With the theme RESET NIGERIA, the youths say only the Atiku/Okowa presidential ticket of their party will change the fortune of the country.
