Gunmen Kidnap Popular State Commissioner for Women Affairs

The commissioner for Women Affairs in Cross River, Gertrude Njar has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen on Wednesday in Calabar.

An eyewitness, Samuel Okon said that she was forcefully taken out of her official car by masked young men, Peoples Gazette reports.

According to Mr Okon, they took the commissioner away in their car and abandoned her own car in Calabar South.

Kalita Aruku, Special Adviser to Gov. Ben Ayade on Information, confirmed her kidnap, Daily Nigerian added.

“Yes, security sources have informed us that the Commissioner for Women Affairs has been kidnapped.
“As we speak, security operatives have launched a manhunt for the kidnappers with a view to arrest them and rescue the victim unharmed."

Tears, sorrow as PDP governorship candidate dies

Legit.ng reported earlier that Professor Uchenna Ikonne the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Abia state, has died.

His son, Chikezie Uche-Ikonne, announced the death of the PDP candidate in a statement on Wednesday, January 25.

According to the state, the professor died at the national hospital in Abuja at about 4am, after having a brief illness.

Meanwhile, Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), reacted to the explosion that disrupted a campaign rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Port Harcourt, Rivers state on Thursday, January 19.

In a tweet on Thursday, Atiku said he was in solidarity with the APC and some of its members who were affected by the disasters.

He tweeted:

"On behalf of my team, I stand in solidarity with the APC and the families of the injured. I wish the injured a quick recovery."

In another development, Primate Ayodele has, in another prophecy predicted the death of a prominent politician that Nigerians will massively vote for in the 2023 election.

According to Ayodele, that politician did not need an election but should step down and take care of his health for his survival.

The cleric also urged INEC to ensure that it stands on its ground on the issue of BVAS, adding that there is no room for election rigging in the 2023 polls.
