Former vice president and Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar has appointed Prof. Usman Yusuf as Special Adviser on Community Engagement to the Atiku, Okowa Presidential Campaigns.
In a letter, personally signed by the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku charged Prof. Yusuf to use his vast experiences and contacts to effectively discharge the responsibilities of his office, a statement made available to Legit.ng reveals.
To help Atiku in community engagement
The professor is by this appointment charged to provide Advisory services on community engagement related issues by identifying community-based organizations (C30s) for necessary interface with local communities, organizing creative programs and events regularly with relevant stakeholders of the local community with the goal of galvanizing support for the PDP candidate and ensuring victory in the election,.

He is also charged to build strong relationships with local community leaders, community-based organizations, gender and various age groups in the grassroots for the propagation of Atiku's plans and ideas so as to ensure acceptability and necessary support in the local communities.
About Prof. Usman Yusuf
Yusuf was the former Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
Recall that the Professor of haematology-oncology and bone marrow transplantation and an alumnus of Ahmadu Bello University had in an interview opined that it will be difficult for the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu to campaign in the Southeast.
He had written several articles in support of the candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar and has been generally seen as a strong supporter of the PDP candidate.

Meanwhile, Atiku Abubakar's wife, Titi has called on the people of Yoruba descent to ensure they vote for her husband who is contesting for the seat of the president under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Titi while speaking during an interview on Tuesday, January 24, said that Yoruba is yet to boast of a First Lady since the inception of democracy in 1999. Appealing to the people from the southwest region to support her husband, Titi said she wants to become Nigeria's first Yoruba First Lady.
During the interview which was conducted by BBC Yoruba, Titi assured the people that she will not relent in her humanitarian work which spans across issues of women including the fight against trafficking and child labour.

Meanwhile, Nigerians have been urged to ensure that the opposition, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) does not return to power in Nigeria.
Atiku Abubakar is PDP's 2023 presidential candidate. The call was made to Nigerians by the standard-bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu.
According to Tinubu, it is important that Nigerians vote for responsive and responsible leaders in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
