London Police Finally Reveal Why 71-Year-Old Raymond Dokpesi Was Arrested, Names His Alleged Crime

The London Metropolitan Police, United Kingdom, has finally reacted to the arrest and release of the founder of DAAR Communications Plc, Chief Raymond Dokpesi.
According to the police, a 71-year-old man who was arrested at Heathrow Airport on Sunday was being probed on suspicion of forcefully having his way with a woman.
Dokpesi was in the UK in connection with the invitation extended to the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, by the British government to speak on the 2023 presidential elections.
Dokpesi was delayed at the airport for some hours before his passport was stamped and he was cleared by British Immigration officials for entry into the country.

While responding to inquiries from Punch newspaper, about the reasons for Dokpesi’s arrest, the Met Police in an email did not mention the PDP chief’s name.
The mail read:
“On Sunday, 8 January, a 71-year-old man was arrested at Heathrow Airport on suspicion of rap*. The arrest relates to an allegation of rap* in August 2019. The man has been bailed, pending further enquiries, to a date in early April. Enquiries into the circumstances continue.
“Please, note that we don’t confirm the identity of any person who has been arrested but not charged.”

Meanwhile, as the 2023 presidential election draws near, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has intensified his political engagements ahead of the polls.

The former vice president is currently in London as part of his consultations ahead of the elections. Rumours of Atiku battling ill health had earlier flooded social media, but recent photos show he is hale and hearty.
A member of the PDP presidential campaign council and one of its prominent spokespersons, Senator Melaye has been at the forefront of the Atiku/Okowa campaign team helping to project the image of the former vice president ahead of the 2023 presidential contest. He is in London with his principal at the moment. He was also very visible during Atiku's visit to Washington in 2022.
2023: Tinubu warns Adamawa residents against voting for Atiku
On his part, the APC presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has said Atiku will sell Nigeria if he's elected president.
Tinubu made the statement on Monday, January 9, at the APC presidential rally at the Maidoki Ground in Yola, the Adamawa state capital.
The former governor of Lagos state also revealed his plans for Adamawa and the northeast region if he becomes Nigeria's president.
