Osun State: Governor Adeleke Suspends Influential Consultant Over $106M Ilesa Water Loan ‘Misappropriation’

In a move that will annoy the main opposition party ion Osun state, Governor Ademola Adeleke has directed the immediate suspension of the project consultant for the Ilesa Water Project.
According to report, the consultant Tawa Williams was suspended over questionable handling of $106 million dollar loan for the project, Channels TV reports.
This was disclosed by the governor's spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Business Day added.
According to him Governor Adeleke has also ordered full scale probe of the entire project and disbursed loans.

he alleged that there was no progress on the project despite the huge money paid for it.
Going further, Adeleke suspended the project coordinator to allow for unhindered review of the loan administration.
Also, the Consultant was directed to return to government the N70m bullet proof jeep in her possession.
Governor Adeleke’s said:
”My administration will dig into this matter with all seriousness. The huge fund in question are loans to be repaid. We have a sacred duty to ensure accountability and transparency in the handling of the fund and the project."

A forensic expert, Samuel Oduntan had appeared before the Osun Election Petitions Tribunal in defense of the forensic report conducted on some election materials/BVAS machines in the July 16 governorship elections.
The forensic report was also admitted as exhibit by the tribunal after Oduntan was crossed-examined by the petitioner, former Governor Gboyega Oyetola’s counsel, Akin Olujimi (SAN).
Oduntan at the resumed hearing on Thursday, December 22, told the tribunal that the report was arrived at after a forensic audit of some election materials in the governorship election.
Meanwhile, the face-off between Governor Ademola Adeleke and the immediate past governor of Osun state has taken a new dimension
This is as a witness revealed to the Osun State Chieftaincy Affairs Review Committee, how Adeleke obtained his degree within 24 days
The witness noted that Adeleke did not forge any certificate nor did he have any conflict in his certificates submitted to contest the July 16 election
