Police Finally Release Identities of Those Working To Disrupt 2023 General Elections

The police have revealed that some Nigerians are working to disrupt the 2023 general election.
According to Usman Baba, Nigeria's inspector-general of police (IGP), separatist groups in the country are guilty of these allegation, The Cable reports.
The IGP disclosed this through Dandaura Mustapha, deputy inspector-general in charge of operations, who represented him before the house of representatives ad hoc committee investigating attacks on the facilities of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The police chief said:

“What we discovered is that — we all know in this country; it is a well-known fact that in the south-east geo-political zone, we have issues of secessionists, the IPOB and ESN — these groups are bent on stopping elections from taking place in the south-east.
“In the south-west, we equally have the pro-Yoruba secessionists that are equally bent on succeeding and not allowing election to take place in their areas, hence the attack on INEC in Osun and Ogun of recent.
Going further, he claimed that some politicians are sponsoring thugs in other to disrupt the election.
He added:
“There are other ones that are sponsored by politicians and other stakeholders. There is also an issue of failed and desperate politicians who are bent on stopping INEC from conducting this election.
“The failed politicians are those who could not come back (win election) through any political party, and as far as they are concerned, ‘let everything spoil; let everything scatter’"
Tension as suspected thugs set fire on INEC office in southwest state
Some suspected thugs have set fire to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) office at Iyana Mortuary in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital.
The incident was said to have occurred around midnight on Wednesday, November 9.
It was gathered that the thugs jumped the fence of the commission's building and set fire to it from the back.

Meanwhile, ahead of the 2023 general election, there have been continuous bombardments of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) offices and attacks on other soft targets in the southeast.
Nevertheless, a political analyst and former managing editor of Daily Times, Bonaventure Melah argued that elections in the southeast will run successfully as the people are determined to vote for their candidates in the coming election.
