The presence of the supporters caused heavy traffic gridlock along the Protea Road.

Despite the explanation by the leadership of the APC in the State that they would see Tinubu next week when he returns for campaign, the excited party members remained adamant, forcing the party leaders and the State Government to make emergency arrangements to keep them under canopies.

Imo APC publicity secretary, Cajethan Duke, described the large crowd as a demonstration of enthusiasm by party members, saying their coming out was to show solidarity.

“Asiwaju’s visit is not for rally as you know. It is meant for captains of industries, manufacturers and traders in Southeast and party’s candidates for various positions for the event.

“The party members you are seeing here are only showing solidarity in the project and I can assure you that they don’t mind the scorching sun as long as it has to do with Tinubu and APC,” he said.

Ahead of the 2023 presidential election, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), met with the leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Abuja.

CAN had initially stood against Tinubu for fielding a Muslim-Muslim ticket after choosing Kashim Shettima, a former governor of Borno state, as his running mate.

However, during his meeting with the leadership of CAN under the new president Daniel Ukoh, Tinubu explained why he picked Shettima and assured the Christian leaders that he won't run his administration on the religious bias if elected in 2023.
