How OctaFX, MANI marked World Health Day 2022 in Nigeria

Every year on October 10th, the World Health Organization (WHO) marks World Mental Health Day with the overall objective of raising awareness of global mental health issues. On this day, various programs are designed to draw attention to mental health concerns and bring awareness of the dangers of stigmatisation. To bring more awareness to this burning issue, OctaFX partners with the Mentally Aware Nigeria Initiative.

The theme of 2022’s World Mental Health Day is “Make Mental Health and well-being for all a global priority.” COVID-19 brought with it nearly two years of increased isolation and social distancing, impacting us with unexpected and unwanted changes in our lifestyle. This resulted in a mass decline in global mental health.

Mental health is a valuable aspect of our lives. Although often ignored in Nigeria, some organisations are taking it upon themselves to raise awareness of mental health issues in the country. Mentally Aware Nigeria Initiative, (or MANI) is one such organisation. It is a non-governmental organisation aimed at fostering mental health inclusion and reducing related stigma for young Nigerians.

MANI, in partnership with OctaFX, organised a yoga event to mark this year’s World Mental Health Day celebration. The event was in tune with the global theme for WMHD'22 as it set the tone for people to come back to themselves and prioritise their mental well-being through the widely recognised wellness practice.

The yoga event happened in Magodo, Lagos Nigeria. It included a raffle with yoga equipment and relaxation accessories up for grabs. Among the raffle draw, prizes were yoga mats, stress balls, and neck pillows. Five lucky online participants of the yoga event who could not make it physically to Magodo won movie tickets. All they had to do was prove that were following along in the event by uploading a photo or video of them in yoga poses to Instagram.

October has been particularly eventful for the global forex broker, OctaFX. With several ongoing projects, the company is demonstrating a more purposeful commitment to the local communities in which they operate. The brand is taking all reasonable efforts to align its values with charity partners to generate a sustainable social impact through diverse outreaches.
