Another 137 Stranded Nigerians Arrive From Libya After Bitter Experience
- Another batch of 137 stranded Nigerians have arrived from Libya at about 5.15pm, through the Cargo Wing of Murtala Muhammad International Airport
- The stranded Nigerians were received by the officials of Lagos State Emergency Management Agency
- On arrival, they were received by Ibrahim Farinloye, the coordinator, Lagos Territorial Office who represented NEMA Director General, Alhaji Mustapha Ahmed

The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) in collaboration with the Nigerian Mission in Tripoli has successfully evacuated 137 stranded Nigerians, who were irregular migrants, from Libya
Kabiru Musa, Chargé D’affaires of the Nigerian Mission to Libya, disclosed this in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday, in Abuja.
Musa said that the 137 returnees departed Misrata, Libya on October 24 at 2.30 p.m aboard a chartered flight No. UZ189 and were expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos at 5.00 p.m (Nigerian time).https://tribuneonlineng.com/fg-iom-evacuate-another-137-stranded-nigerians-from-libya/
According to him, the 137 returnees included 76 male adults, 52 female adults, four children, and five infants.

Musa said that the evacuation exercise was part of the Federal Government citizen’s diplomacy drive.
“This will continue to ensure safe returns of vulnerable Nigerians outside the shores of the country.
“The IOM under its Voluntary Humanitarian Return (VHR) programme in collaboration with the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in Tripoli successfully carried out an orderly, safe and dignified return of 137 stranded Nigerians.
“This is part of efforts to assist Nigerians in difficult circumstances to return home and reunite with their families,” he said.
We're proud of NAPTIP's achievements, says VP Yemi Osinbajo
Meanwhile, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo said the federal government is proud of the achievements so far recorded by the NAPTIP.
The vice president made the statement in Abuja at the last day of NAPTIP’s one-week celebration of the 2022 World day against human trafficking organised by the agency in collaboration with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD).
Osinbajo said it is on record that the Buhari administration has continued to deploy the necessary political will in the fight against human trafficking by providing direction and support to NAPTIP.
Osinbajo, who was represented at the occasion by Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, Adeola Ipaye, also called on the youths to make the change even where they have hitherto fallen short.
FG names Dubai new human trafficking destination for Nigerians
Recall that NAPTIP recently confirmed Dubai, a city in the United Arab Emirates, as the human trafficking hotspot for Nigerians.
Nduka Nwanwenne, the Benin zonal commander of NAPTIP, made the disclosure on Wednesday, April 20.
Nwanwenne who was speaking at a three-day sensitisation programme on human trafficking in Benin stated that the system of human trafficking has transcended from land transport to air transport.

Meanwhile, a young Oyinbo woman has been captured in a short TikTok video as she stormed a restaurant in Dubai, UAE, to demand Nigerian garri.
The lady was serious about it and was completely disappointed when she was told garri is not served in the restaurant.
In the video, the restaurant attendant was stunned and seriously surprised at the lady's demand, especially since she looks like she is not from Nigeria. More interesting was the fact that she spoke in good Pidgin English, making many ask if she has lived in Nigeria.
