Enugu, Enugu - Pandemonium took over the Adoration Ministries, Enugu, Nigeria, AMEN, on Sunday evening when it was announced that Bishop Callistus Onaga has removed Fr Ejike Mbaka as the spiritual director of the catholic church.

Mbaka made the announcement during Sunday Mass, adding that the bishop had appointed Fr Anthony Amadi as the new spiritual director of AMEN and would be assisted by other unmentioned priests, Vanguard reported.

What will Fr Mbaka be doing after being removed as spiritual director of AMEN?

“So, while I proceed to the monastery to continue with the remaining disciplinary exercises, as directed; I wouldn’t know how long; but the church has appointed Fr Anthony Amadi, one of us, to be overseeing all affairs of the ministry, to be assisted by other priests, pending my return, by the grace of God,” Mbaka stated.

The newly appointed Fr Amadi was almost lynched by angry worshippers after the announcement. The AMEN security personnel came to his rescue and guided him to the Father’s house.

Mbaka had barely mentioned the name of the new priest when the congregation started shouting “we say no,” “we say no,” “we no gree” and started carrying green leaves, this made Mbaka to immediately concluded the mass.

Why did Mbaka announce the new AMEN priest?

According to the source, Fr. Mbaka was only allowed to celebrate Mass at the centre for him to make the announcement personally.

Remember that Bishop Onaga slammed a veiled ban on the outspoken priest earlier in June.

He subsequently announced the official prohibition of all Catholic faithful, clergymen and religious from attending all AMEN programmes, a catholic ministry that was founded and run by Mbaka.
