Peter Obi: Why IGP Must Probe Festus Keyamo Over Assassination Comment, APRJ Gives Reasons

The police have been asked to invite the Minister of State for Employment and Labour, Festus Keyamo (SAN) over his assassination attempt comment.

Recall that Keyamo, had, in a statement alleged that the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, was planning to stage-manage an assassination attempt on himself

According to Punch Newspaper, the petition was made by the Advocate for Peoples’ Rights and Justice.

In a petition acknowledged by the Force Headquarters of the police in Abuja, signed by the National Coordinator of the group and lawyer, Victor Giwa, and obtained by, the group said the comment by the Spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Group was “provocating, temptuous, and inciting.”

The petition read in part:

“As the country approaches the date of the general election, it is pertinent that the politicians are warned to desist from acts capable of heightening political tension in particular, the comment by Festus Keyamo (SAN).

“Keyamo’s comment on social media that “Peter Obi and his supporters are trying to stage an assassination attempt is provocating, tempteous, and inciting.

“Consequently, we humbly request that the minister be invited to clear himself as regards the content of his comment since it borders on the security of the life of a key contestant in the elections."

Recall that Legit.ng had earlier reported that Festus Keyamo, the minister of state for labour and employment and spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign council is currently in war of words with an American, a retired mental health counselor Dr. Jeffrey Guterman who is an ardent supporter of Peter Obi for the 2023 presidency in Nigeria.

Recall that Keyamo had recently claimed that Obi was planning to fake an assassination attempt by hiring hoodlums donning APC caps and T-shirts to attack his party offices.

The exchange started when Dr. Jeffrey Guterman solicited help from his followers on Twitter.
