FCT, Abuja - A Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled judgment for Monday, August 29 in the extradition proceedings involving suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Abba Kyari.
Justice Inyang Ekwo announced the date on Friday, June 3, after lawyers to parties made their final submissions, The Nation reported.
Lawyer to Kyari, Nureini Jimoh (SAN) faulted the extradition application filed by the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and prayed the court to reject it.
However, the lawyer to the AGF, Pius Akutah argued otherwise, insisting that the AGF has complied with all necessary requirements for an extradition process.

He prayed the court to allow the application and order the AGF to surrender Kyari as requested by the United States.
Recall that the US had requested the Nigerian authorities to surrender Kyari in view of his alleged link with international fraud suspect, Abbas Ramon (aka Hushpuppi).

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Kyari alleged that members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN) are behind his travails.
The embattled senior police officer made this claim when he appeared before a probe panel led by Joseph Egbunike, a Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG) at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
Kyari's claim was contained in a report submitted by the panel to the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Usman Baba, which was in turn forwarded to the Police Service Commission (PSC).
Prison official reacts to alleged threat to life of Abba Kyari
Meanwhile, following the report of the threat to Kyari's life, the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) has reacted.
The controller-general of NCoS, Haliru Nababa, said the report is fake and should be disregarded by the general public.
Media reports had said Kyari was nearly murdered by some aggrieved inmates who accused him of taking bribes while in active service in false.
