Senate: Governor Obiano’s Wife Floors Husband’s Ex-Chief of Staff for APGA Ticket

  • Ebelechukwu Obiano has won the Anambra North senatorial primary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)
  • She defeated her husband’s former Chief of Staff, Primus Odili, to emerge the APGA candidate in a keenly contested primary
  • Mrs Obiano, at the primary held at the Chuba Ikpeazu Stadium, Onitsha, Onitsha North Local Government Area, scored 152 votes while her closest rival, Odili got 120

Ebelechukwu Obiano, wife of the immediate past governor of Anambra state, has secured the ticket of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for Anambra North senatorial zone for the 2023 general elections.

The former first lady defeated the former Chief of Staff to ex Governor Willie Obiano, Primus Odili by 152 votes to 120, Premium Times reports.

However, Mrs Obiano was defeated in her Anambra east local government area where she got only two votes, while Odili polled 36 votes.

Also in the nearby Anambra West local government area, Odili secured 29 votes, while Obiano got only one vote.

Meanwhile, Mrs Obiano floored Odili in Onitsha North by scoring 30 votes to Odili’s 14 and in Onitsha South where she got 33 votes to Odili’s seven.In Ayamelum, Odili got 11 votes to Obiano’s 20, while both tied at 23 votes each in Ogbaru.

In Oyi local government area, Odili secured no vote, while Obiano scored 43 votes.The exercise had to be shifted to Sunday following alleged irregularities in the delegates list.

Meanwhile, Bianca Ojukwu has spoken again about the incident that happened during the inauguration ceremony of the Anambra state governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo.

Recall that the former first lady of Anambra Ebelechukwu Obiano and Bianca Ojukwu had a clash when Governor Soludo took the oath of office on Thursday, March 17.

Mrs Ojukwu, the widow of late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, slapped the former first lady who had left her seat to meet the former and taunt her.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that renowned southeast cleric, Bishop Sunday Onuoha of the Methodist Church, expressed fury over the recent conduct of Mrs Obiano.

Speaking from his base in Umuahia, Bishop Onuoha described the action of the former Anambra First Lady as an embarrassment to Ndigbo.

He said that Obiano’s wife displayed a lack of respect by throwing caution to the wind with her actions without regard to what Ojukwu represents to the Igbo nation.
