Insecurity: Soyinka Raises Alarm, Says Nigerians go out Unsure of Returning Home

Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka on Thursday, April 7, has raised concerns over the rising level of insecurity in the country,
Soyinka speaking on the sidelines of a media briefing held in Lagos said many Nigerians go out unsure they would return home safely, Channels TV reported.
According to him, Nigeria needs help to tame insecurity in the country. He went on to note that the current administration needs help as it no longer can cope.
He said:

“It has been going on for years and I don’t know if the citizens of this country should live under such a cloud, such uncertainty: get up in the morning and you don’t know if you would get back at night.”
Soyinka, who noted that the problem has been lingering for a while, blamed the judiciary, impunity, and others issues for contributing to the problem.
He also berated the main political parties in Nigeria the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the wave of defections.

In a previous report by Legit.ng, Omisore recently elected as the national secretary of the APC during the party's national convention held on March 26.

In a related development, the tension between Soyinka and the national secretary for the All Progressives Congress (APC), Iyiola Omisore, took a different dimension.
Omisore through his lawyer has advised Soyinka to retract his statement on the murder of a former attorney general of the federation and ex-minister of justice, Bola Ige.
Representing Omisore, his lawyer, Gboyega Oyewole (SAN) said Soyinka made allegations about the murder of Ige and his client's connection without having full knowledge of the matter.
