Corruption Charges: Again, Court Orders Arrest of Former Nigerian Minister
- A court sitting in Abuja has issued a warrant for the arrest of former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke
- Justice Bolaji Olajuwon issued the order on Monday, January 24, following an oral application from the EFCC

The Federal High Court, Abuja has again issued an arrest warrant against embattled former minister of petroleum resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke over pending corruption charges against her.
Premium Times reports that Justice Bolaji Olajuwon who took over the case from Ijeoma Ojukwu, the judge of the Federal High Court, Abuja issued the fresh warrant of arrest against Diezani following an oral application by EFCC’s lawyer, Farouk Abdullah.
This would be the second arrest warrant to be issued against the former minister who allegedly fled to the United Kingdom after leaving office back in 2015.
According to Abdullah, his oral application for an arrest warrant is a mandatory requirement needed by the office of the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) to process the extradition of the defendant, Vanguard added.

He explained that while the matter was being handled by Ojukwu all efforts to get the Diezani extradited proved abortive.
The prosecutor added that the arrest warrant needed to be given to the International Police (INTERPOL) which would enable all law enforcement agencies effect the former minister's arrest anywhere she is sighted in the UK.
She would brought before the court to answer to the allegation made against her before the court.
Olajuwon granted the application and adjourned the matter indefinitely pending when Diezani would be arrested and produced in court.
Diezani Madueke's Diamond Bra: EFCC boss reveals truth about raid on ex-minister's apartment
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Abdulrasheed Bawa, the chairman of the EFCC denied reports that a diamond bra was among items recovered from Diezani's apartment contrary to media reports.
Recall that there were rumors a bra made of diamonds was part of the forfeited items belonging to the former petroluem minister to be auctioned.
Bawa made the clarification during his appearance on TVC's Your View on Wednesday, November 17, 2021.
EFCC discovers fresh $72.8m linked to Diezani, nabs prominent bank ex-MD
Meanwhile, a fresh sum of $72.87 million said to be linked to the embattled former minister of petroleum resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, has been discovered by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In a statement on the discovery, the anti-graft agency disclosed that the money was traced to a new generation bank and that the former managing director of the bank, Nnamdi Okonkwo, who was in office at the time of the alleged crime, has been arrested.
The statement also seen said:
“As part of the ongoing investigations into the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has arrested a former bank Managing Director Nnamdi Okonkwo, allegedly over an additional $72, 870,000 million still in the coffers of the bank."
