Soldier, NSCDC Operative Feared Dead as Bandits Storm Military Base

Jibia, Katsina - A report by Daily Trust indicates that no fewer than 2 people have been killed in a fresh attack by bandits on a military base in Katsina state.
According to the report, one soldier and an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were gunned down when bandits stormed Shinfida community, Jibia local government area.
A source speaking to the news publication said the bandits on their motorcycles stormed the military camp at about 10pm on Tuesday, January 18, and began shooting sporadically.
It was gathered that the assailants also burnt down two patrol vehicles and drove away another one which they used to convey food items stolen from the villages.

The source added that the victims died instantly while those who sustained injuries were being treated at an undisclosed hospital in the state.
At the time of filing this report the NSCDC confirmed the incident through DSC Muhammad Abdara, its public relations officer.
Bandits attack joint military base
Recall that an attack by armed bandits on a Nigerian military camp in Sabon Birni local government area of Sokoto state has left many personnel dead.
The bandits attacked the base, codenamed “Burkusuma Camp”, in the early hours of Friday, September 24, 2021.
Colonel Garba Moyi (rtd), the Sokoto state commissioner for carriers and security matters who confirmed the incident, wasn't sure of the number of casualties.

Bandits write 9 communities in Zamfara, make crucial demand
Meanwhile, bandits have written to nine communities in Bukkuyum local government area of Zamfara state asking them to pay their levies or face deadly attacks.
The bandits that authored the letters were those operating in Gando forest. The letters were written in Hausa language and addressed to the different communities.
Wach of the letters has the name of the community on the top and the money it is expected to pay. The letters also contain a mobile phone number. It is, however, learnt that the number was not reachable when dialed.
