Free Death: Nigerian Minister Laments Killing of Over 200 Women, Children, Others in Zamfara

The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq has condemned the recent killings in Zamfara State, describing the banditry as horrific.
The Minister in a statement issued by her Special Assistant on Media, Nneka Ikem Anibeze, stated this following the invasion of five communities and killing of over 200 people in Anka and Bukkuyum local government areas of the state.

“This is horrific and tragic. Over 200 persons were buried today due to the invasion by bandits.
“We are very saddened by this incessant invasion and killings by bandits and we also worried about the displaced persons who are fleeing in their hundreds from their communities, especially the women and children.

Group to Buhari: Strengthen DIA to win war against insurgency, banditry
Recall that a coalition of Civil Society Organisations and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) recently urged President Muhammadu Buhari to strengthen the DIA in order to win the war against insurgency and banditry in Nigeria.
A statement sent to Legit.ng jointly signed by, Dr. Aliyu Bello of Peace and Conflict Resolution Initiative and Ambassador Jude Uchenna of Alliance for Justice and Peace gave the advice to the president.
The group noted that the failure of the DIA in providing links that will lead the troops on the battlefield as well as rancour within the military hierarchy has affected the fight against insurgency and banditry.
