Tragedy in Abia as Gunmen Attack Police Headquarters, Kill 1 Officer
- A police inspector in Umuahia, Abia state's capital city has been shot dead by some unknown gunmen
- The inspector was said to have been killed when the gunmen invaded the Abia state police headquarters where he was on guard duty
- The incident is said to have instilled fear in the minds of most residents of the area since the attack on Monday, December 13

The Nigeria Police headquarters in Abia state has been reportedly attacked by some yet to be identified gunmen operating in the state.
Vanguard reports that a police officer was killed during the incident which took place at the police headquarters along Bende Road.
Sources said the gunmen invaded the location at about 1 am killing the officer, a police inspector who was on guard duty in front of the headquarter.
The source said the inspector managed to mobilize his colleagues the gunmen who later fled the vicinity.

Also, Sahara Reporters in its report said that the hoodlums could have wrecked more damage but for the action of the police officers on guard.
While a senior police officer at the headquarters confirmed the attack, the police spokesperson in the state is yet to speak on the incident.
Gunmen invade Abuja homes, kill a housewife, abduct others
Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that at least eight people have been abducted by some yet to be identified gunmen who invaded a community in the capital city of Nigeria.
The gunmen were said to have also shot a housewife simply identified as Salamatu by her neighbours.
According to residents, the gunmen operated in the Piri community intermittently for two days between Tuesday, December 7 and Wednesday, December 8.
Bandits tax Zamfara community members N1 million levy
In other news, bandits in Zamfara have started asking for more than N1 million levies from residents of communities in Zurmi, Kaura Namoda, and Birnin-Magaji local government areas.
Among the communities affected by what some have termed an unthinkable trend are Birnin Tsaba, Gabaken Mesa, Gabaken Dan-Maliki, Turawa, Askawa, and Yanbuki.
The action by the bandits has put indigenes and residents at the mercy of armed criminals who seem to have instituted their presence in the state like a separate government.
Abia court resumes hearing on IPOB leader’s suit against FG
Also, on Friday, December 10, Umuahia witnessed the heavy deployment of security operatives.
The operatives were deployed by the leadership of the Abia state police command as the hearing of Nnamdi Kanu resumes.
The IPOB leader is challenging the federal government's decision to repatriate him from East African country, Kenya.
