Sultan, JNI Highlight Corruption as Cause of Nigeria's Insecurity, Declare Special Prayers in the North

  • The Sultan of Sokoto state and the JNI have expressed deep concern over rising insecurity in the northern region of the country

Sokoto state- The Sultan of Sokoto and president-general of Jamatul NasiI Islam (JNI), Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, on Sunday, December 12, called on Muslims across the country to engage in special prayer against what he described as incessant and horrific killings.

Leadership reports that the Sultan said the call became imperative as human lives have continued to be wasted unchallenged as was witnessed in Benisheikh, Kaga local government area of Borno state and Gidan Bawa of Isa local government area in Sokoto state.

While he prayed for Nigeria’s enemies to be destroyed and their plans to backfire on them, he reiterated his call on governments, at all levels, to brace up to the daunting challenges of providing good and responsible governance.

In a statement issued yesterday by JNI’s secretary-general, Dr. Khalid Abubakar Aliyu, the Sultan said:

“May the enemies of the Nigerian state be destroyed and their plans be disseminated on them. Amin.
“Lastly, we once again reiterate that government at all levels should brace up to the daunting challenges of good governance, knowing fully that there is the Day of Reckoning before the Lord."

The call for special prayer

Urging special prayers over the security situation in the country especially in the Northern region, the Sultan said:

“Du’a denotes supplication and invocation to Allah, the Most High. It is the greatest weapon of a believer, as well as an important, veritable means in reaching Allah, the Omniscient and the Omnipotent, with complaints, requests, needs and intervention at difficult and trying times, for indeed nothing whatsoever overpowers Allah, the All-knowing."

Northern Youths begin massive protest over killings in the North

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that northern youths have begun a series of massive protests in some cities to protest the spate of killings in the region.

The youth protesters were seen carrying placards in cities such as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Kano, Zamfara as well as Sokoto state.

It was gathered that the youths called on the president and governors to show more concern about the killings going on.

Nigerians are being killed like chickens, Northern leaders tell Buhari

In a related report, leaders from the northern part of Nigeria have cried out to President Muhammadu Buhari over what they described as a spate of ravaging insecurity that is sweeping through the entire country.

It was reported that leaders like the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar, the Christian Association of Nigeria and the JNI both called out to the president to arrest the current situation before it gets out of hand.
