Just In: ISWAP Stage Fresh Attack, Abducts Another Set of Travellers on Borno Highway

  • Terrorists of the Islamic State in West Africa Province, have staged a fresh attack against travellers on Borno Highway
  • Following this move, an unspecified number of passengers have been abducted along the Damaturu / Maiduguri highway
  • Reports revealed that the commuters who were heading to Maiduguri, were kidnapped by the terrorist group

Borno state- Again, fighters of the Islamic State in West Africa Province(ISWAP) have abducted an unspecified number of passengers along Damaturu / Maiduguri highway.

Daily Trust reports that the commuters were heading to Maiduguri in Borno state from Damaturu in Yobe, when they were intercepted a few kilometres after Benishiek town.

Benishiek is the headquarters of Kaga Local Government Area of Borno.

“Yes, there was an attack on motorists this morning along Damaturu/Maiduguri highway, these senseless people abducted an unspecified number of passages around Benishiek and Mainok axis. We don’t have more details than this.”

The chairman confirmed the abduction

The Chairman Northeast Network of Civil Organization, Amb Ahmed Shehu, disclosed that he also received reports of the abduction.

Amb Shehu queried:

“Yet another abduction in Damaturu -Maiduguri route this morning. Why can’t we have a sustainable solution to this reoccurring misfortune?”

Legit.ng gathered that the incident occurred in the early hours of the day, around 8:30 am precisely on Saturday, December 11.

Recall that terrorists had recently abducted passengers in the state which is the epicenter of insurgency.

It was reported that the protesters, who are wielding placards, have been sighted in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, Kano, Bauchi, Zamfara, and Sokoto states.

Soldiers injured in battle with ISWAP receive huge gift from Governor Zulum

In a related report, some soldiers who fought in a battle with terrorists of the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) have been gifted N5 million by the Borno state governor, Babagana Zulum.

It was reported that the soldiers who had fought with ISWAP members at errorists at Rann, a border town between Nigeria and Cameroon received the cash gifts during the governor's visit.

The governor had visited the soldiers at the Army Hospital at Maimalari Barracks, located in Maiduguri., Borno state.
