Less Than 48 Hours After Killing of Commissioner, Governor Takes Strong Decision

The governor of Katsina state, Aminu Masari, has directed that the suspension of telecommunication services in seven out of 17 local government areas of the state be lifted.

PM News reports that the governor in a statement released by his media aide, Abdu Laraban said the ban which was enforced about four months ago be lifted.

The statement also said that the governor had in a letter written to the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) called for the restoration of networks in the affected areas of the state.

The affected 10 LGAs are: Kurfi, Dutsinma, Matazu, Musawa, Malumfashi, Dandume, Bakori, Funtua, Kafur and Danja.

Masari said:

“Those not affected by the planned restoration of the services are Faskari, Sabuwa, Batsari, Safana, Kankara, Danmusa and Jibia."

The governor said that the state government had passed a crime prevention order which prohibited the use of some roads in the affected areas.

The order also prohibited the transportation of firewood across communities and local government areas of the state.

He said:

“Sale of all categories of animals and the total closure of some major markets in the affected places as well as the sale of motorcycles in the affected markets."

The statement added that the order also restricted the use of commercial motorcycles and tricycles between 10 pm and 5.30 am.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that President Muhammadu Buhari had directed security agencies in Katsina state to fish out the killers of Rabe Nasir.

The president's order followed the news that Nasir, a commissioner in Katsina was assassinated on Wednesday, December 7.

A statement issued by presidential spokesman Garba Shehu said President Buhari, who is deeply anguished by the tragic killing, urged the law enforcement agencies to do a thorough investigation.

How Katsina commissioner Rabe Nasir was killed

Residents of Fatima Shema Quarters have continued to live in fear following the killing of a Katsina state commissioner.

Nasir was said to have been killed on Wednesday, December 8, but his lifeless body was found locked inside his toilet on Thursday, December 9.

The late commissioner was also said to have tried to escape from his assailants but was overpowered.
