Police Arrest Suspected Killer of Lagos RCCG Pastor as Family Makes Important Demand

FESTAC Town, Lagos state - The police have reportedly arrested one of the suspects who killed Babatunde Dada, a pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in FESTAC Town, Lagos state.

The Punch reported that Abolarinwa Olatunbosun, a spokesman for the family of the deceased pastor, said the suspect who ran to Ilorin in Kwara state has been arrested.

Two new converts had stabbed Pastor Dada to death inside the RCCG Chapel of Resurrection on 13 Road, 6th Avenue, FESTAC Town, on Thursday, December 2.

Family demands probe

Speaking on behalf of the family, Olatunbosun said the police had started well by arresting one of the suspects.

He said the family wants to know why Pastor Dada who was also an accountant with the church was killed.

Olatunbosun stressed that the family wants justice to be served in the case.

Pastor Dada was said to have returned from a bank when the suspects killed him.

Tola Oresanwo commented on Facebook:

"This is so sad, I can only wish that God will Grant his family members the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.
"His Killers should be arrested and brought to book. We pray that the shedding of Innocent blood in our country will stop."

Emma O. Akpasubi said:

"Dimensions of killing crimes, have reached an embarrassing proportion. If probe can come out with ways to put them in check, it will be better."

Police react

The spokesman of the police command, Adekunle Ajisebutu, on Thursday, December 9, said the police were working on the case and arrests have been made.

He, however, said he would not divulge the extent the police had gone in order not to jeopardise investigation.

Gunmen kill worshipper during RCCG church service, police share details

In a related development, an Ilorin-based estate agent identified as Sina Babarinde has been killed by unknown gunmen.

Babarinde, a member of the RCCG, was shot dead during a church service at the Living Word Parish, Basin Road, Ilorin.

Confirming the incident on Monday, October 18, the spokesperson of the Kwara state police command, Okasanmi Ajayi, said it happened during the 7am church service of the RCCG.
