Breaking: 60 Baptist Church Members Regain Freedom After a month With Kidnappers
- No fewer than 60 members of a Baptist church in Kauna state who were kidnapped have been freed by their armed abductors
- The parishioners were set free on, Friday, December 3, a month after bandits stormed the church during a service and whisked them away
- Rev Joseph John Hayab, the chairman, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Kaduna State Chapter confirmed their release
Kaduna - Sixty members of Emmanuel Baptist Church, Kakau Daji, Kaduna state,who were abducted by suspected bandits on Sunday, October 31, have regained their freedom.
Daily Trust reports that the good news was confirmed by Rev Joseph John Hayab, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN)’s chairman, Kaduna state chapter on Saturday, December 4.
According to Hayab, nine others abducted at a different village were also released alongside the church worshippers on Friday evening, December 3, The Cable added.
Though the CAN chairman was silent on whether a ransom was paid before their release, he, however, confirmed that the church played a vital role.

A resident, whose family members were among those abducted but craved anonymity, said the ransom was paid before they were released but declined further comments.
Armed bandits kill two villagers, kidnap over 50 in Kaduna community
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that some armed bandits in the early hours of Friday, December 3 invaded the Ungwan Gimbiya village in Chikun local government area of Kaduna state, killing two persons while over 50 members of the community were abducted during the attack.
According to a source who spoke to The Punch newspaper, the terrorists stormed the community on the day and attacked no fewer than 13 members of different families.
The community is a few kilometres away from Kakau Daji where over 60 worshippers of Emmanuel Baptist Church were kidnapped in October 2021 during a church service.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari ordered an immediate response to the current insecurity across the country, occasioned by bandits and insurgents activities.
The Nigerian leader gave the marching orders on Thursday, November 25, after receiving briefs from all security chiefs, security agencies and intelligence organisations.
Rauf Aregbesola, the minister of interior made the disclosure at the end of the National Security Council meeting presided over by President Buhari at the Presidential Villa.
