President Muhammadu Buhari has called on world leaders to keep working together to address the challenges of humanity and ensure that the world is a better place.

Speaking on Friday, December 3, at Nigeria Day during the Expo 2020 Dubai, the Nigerian leader noted that working together helped in the fight against the deadly coronavirus across the world.

In a statement released and shared on Facebook by one of his aides, Femi Adesina, the president said the COVID-19 pandemic negatively affected Nigeria and also caused some setbacks in diversifying the nation’s economy, the fight against corruption, and insecurity.

He, however, said within a short period of time, his administration has made significant progress and is still making more in key sectors of the economy.

Buhari thanks the President of the UAE

The Nigerian leader who expressed his pleasure at being a part of the Expo 2020 Dubai said the country's participation is a great opportunity to showcase the potential of Africa’s largest economy.

Buhari shared a message on his Facebook page, thanking Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), for inviting him to the Expo and especially to attend the Nigeria Day event.

He stated:

"Nigeria is proud to be a part of this dynamic evolution of pragmatic partnerships that are both creative and innovative for the progress of the country."

President Muhammadu Buhari had departed Abuja, Nigeria's capital city to Dubai for an exposition taking place in the UAE on Wednesday, December 1.

A statement signed by Femi Adesina said the president is expected to tour the Nigerian pavilion at the EXPO 2020 in Dubai on Friday, December 3.

Buhari is expected back in Abuja on Sunday, December 5, 2021.

The Expo 2020 Dubai which will host the world for 182 days is focused on creating, collaborating and sharing innovative experiences among peers and countries of great interest.
