Wanted: NCoS Releases Names, Pictures of Escapees From Jos Prison

Jos - The names and photographs of prison inmates who recently escaped from Jos Correctional Center in Plateau State have been released by the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS).
In a post shared on its official Facebook page on Wednesday, December 1, NCoS shared 51 photos and names of the persons identified as part of the 252 inmates who escaped from the correctional Jos centre.

Gunmen attack prison in Plateau
Recall that NCoS revealed the number of casualties recorded in the attack on the Medium Security Custodial Center in Jos, Plateau state, on Sunday, November 28.
In a statement on Monday, November 29, Francis Enobore, the spokesman of the NCoS, said one of the gunmen trapped within the prison was shot dead in a gun duel with security operative.
He said the body of the attacker was identified among the 11 people killed during the invasion. The attackers who stormed the custodial centre on Sunday engaged the NCoS armed squad personnel in a fierce gun battle before breaking into the yard.
Jailbreak: Over 3,000 escapee inmates still on the run, Aregbesola reveals
Legit.ng previously reported that the Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, said that there are over 3,000 inmates still at large, following jailbreaks in Nigeria within the last year.
Speaking at a media briefing organized by the Presidential Media Team at the State House in Abuja on Thursday, November 11, Aregbesola further disclosed that 4,860 inmates escaped from various custodial centres from 2020 till date, and out of this, 984 have been recaptured.
This leaves the country with about 3876 inmates out of custody. According to Aregbesola, biometrics of all inmates in the country have been captured, and it is the hope of the Federal Government that this exercise will aid the tracking and rearrest of the escapees.
