BREAKING: Terrorists kidnap Passengers In Borno, Move Them Into Sambisa Forest
- Some travellers in the Damboa LGA of Borno were kidnapped and taken to the Sambisa Forest on Wednesday, December 1
- The victims, about 15 of them, were said to have been abducted by insurgents of the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP)
- The police command in the state is yet to make any official statement on the incident, neither has the terrorists asked for ransom
About 15 passengers who were travelling along the Gumsuri village in Damboa local government area of Borno have been kidnapped by insurgents of the Islamic State of West African Province (ISWAP).
Sources who spoke with Daily Trust revealed that among the victims were staff members of an International Non-Governmental Organisations.
It was also gathered that the attackers who were dressed in military uniforms mounted illegal checkpoints on the highway leading to Adamawa state.
Apart from seizing three trucks loaded with sand, the terrorists also moved their victims to the dreaded Sambisa Forest.

One of the sources said:
“It is unfortunate that the insurgents continue their nefarious activities on the fringe of Sambisa forests, we have received reports that ISWAP kidnapped at least 15 persons (passengers) near Gumsuri village while allowing two others to go.
“They are desperate to recruit more people into their criminal activities. They deceived people because they dressed in military attire. It is sad and shocking.”
Houses on fire as ISWAP terrorists hit Borno again
Meanwhile, suspected members of the ISWAP were currently operating in Askira Uba local government area of Borno state.
According to the newspaper, the terrorists have reportedly set houses ablaze in Dille village in the local government area.
A source as saying that the terrorists stormed the village around 5.30pm.
Stores looted, houses burnt
The source whose name was not revealed said the terrorists looted many stores, carting away food items, adding that they torched the houses they stole from.
Legit.ng noted that the incident comes 48 hours after an intense battle between troops and terrorists in Askira Uba.
Brig-Gen Dzarma Zirkusu and three others soldiers were killed in the weekend attacks but the army retaliated by reportedly killing 50 terrorist commanders.
Spokesman of the Nigerian Army, Brig.-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, in a statement, explained that troops of 115 Task Force Battalion conducted dawn exploitation towards Leho village and environs.
