Nnamdi Kanu: New Date for Trial of IPOB Leader Revealed
- The trial of the detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, will resume on Thursday, December 2, according to one of his lawyers, Alloy Ejimakor
- Though the trial was earlier adjourned till January 2022, the court granted an abridgement of time following a motion filed by Kanu, the lawyer explained

The trial of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, will continue at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday, December 2.
According to BBC News Pidgin, the lawyer to the IPOB leader, Alloy Ejimakor, confirmed this on Wednesday, December 1.
Ejimakor said part of what will be heard on Thursday is the application to grant Kanu bail.

Legit.ng recalls that the last time Kanu appeared in court was Wednesday, November 10, when the trial was adjourned till Wednesday, January 19, 2022, after his lawyers staged a walk out.

The Punch reported that Ejimakor explained that the trial date changed after the court granted an abridgement of time following a motion filed by his client.
He was quoted to have said:
“There will be a hearing tomorrow. It wasn’t scheduled before. The court granted our motion for abridgement of time."
Kanu who is remanded in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abuja is facing charges bordering on treasonable felony and terrorism.

Meanwhile, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has reacted to the allegation that his visit to Kanu at the Department of State Services (DSS) headquarters was in gross violation of the court-ordered guideline for visitation.
Lead counsel to the detained leader of IPOB, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, had made the allegation, berating the DSS for granting the former governor of Abia state, Kalu, private access to his client.
Reacting via Facebook post sighted by Legit.ng on Wednesday, December 1, Senator Kalu said he fulfilled all the requirements expected of hem before he saw Kanu, including getting permission from his lawyers.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Senator Kalu said he paid a visit to Kanu on Monday, November 29.
The former governor of Abia state and current chief whip of the Senate said he met Kanu in "good health and care".
He also said he "encouraged" the IPOB leader to be mindful of his actions and utterances.
