We Must Uphold Family Values to Rebuild Society, Buhari tells Nigerian Parents

Abia state, Umuahia- The President, Muhammadu Buhari, has said Nigerian parents and guardians must uphold family values in order to rebuild the society.
Buhari made this statement at the wedding of Mr. Jachimike Ikpeazu, son of Abia state governor Okezie Ikpeazu, in Umuahia, Abia state, on Sunday, November 28.
Represented by the minister of state for mines and steel development, Dr Uche Ogah, at the occasion, the president attributed the problems facing the nation to the diminishing emphasis on the importance of family values.
Buhari lamented that parents and guardians who should inculcate good character in their wards have abandoned their responsibility.

He said:
“Marriage is family value, character. The reason why there are issues in society today is because families are broken. When values are enshrined in families, the entire society will be good.”
Buhari charged the couple to build their family on the word of God, have a regular family altar of prayers, and give attention to building enduring character.
The wife of the president, Aisha Buhari, who was represented by the wife of the Ebonyi state governor, Mrs Rachael Umahi, enjoined the couple to love and respect one another in order to enjoy their union.
This was contained in a statement issued by Kelvin Ebiri, the media aide to the Rivers state governor.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that on Tuesday, November 23, the World Bank released its November 2021 Nigeria Development Update.
Among other things, the report revealed that Nigeria no longer benefits from high oil prices, owing to record low revenues and exorbitant fuel subsidies.
The report also noted that Nigeria has the worst revenue-to-GDP ratio among 115 countries monitored by the World Bank.
