Sheikh Gumi Leads Medical Team to Kogi Forest to Treat Sick Fulanis

  • Sheikh Gumi has continued to be of tremendous assistance to Fulani settlements across the country

Ayangban - Sheikh Ahmad Gumi on Tuesday, November 23 led a team of Islamic preachers and medical personnel to Rugan Ardo Zubairu Okebukun at Ayangban grazing reserve, a Fulani settlement in Yagba local government area of Kogi state to offer free medical services to them. 

Nigerian Tribune newspaper reports that Nasir Ayuba, who spoke on behalf of the delegation, urged Fulanis in the settlement to embrace Western education as well as Islamic education.

He also advised them to eschew violence and to shun banditry, adding that the team was in their settlement to treat Fulanis who were in need of medical attention.

Welcoming the team, Ardo Zubairu appreciated Sheikh Gumi and his team for coming to the aid of the Fulanis.

He thanked Gumi and his team and urged them to build schools as the settlement does not have one.

Also speaking, Mamu Tukur, Dan Iya of Fika, stressed that the importance of such visit to the community is to preach for peace and unity as part of efforts to tackle the insecurity confronting the country. 

He said:

“The Fulani have suffered neglect for many decades. They have nothing to show and they have no means of livelihood order than grazing animals.”

Recall that Sheikh Gumi recently established a new school for herdsmen inside a forest in Kaduna state.

Gumi said providing such facilities for the herdsmen in remote locations would be instrumental to addressing the conflict ideologies of the herders.

The school named Sheikh Uthman Bin Fodio Centre is located at Kagarko Grazing Reserve near Kohoto Village in Kaduna state.

Gumi Tells Nigerians to Treat Bandits With Dignity

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that Gumi had urged every Nigerian to treat bandits with some level of dignity.

The Sheikh condemned the dehumanisation and terrorising of bandits operating in the northwest region of the country.

According to Gumi, Nigerians can live in peace with the criminals with a few tips he made available.
