Commotion! Female Passenger Breaks Bottle, Stabs 42-year-old Lagos Uber Driver over N4100 Fare

  • A lady has been accused by an Uber driver in Lagos of ill-treatment following a misunderstanding that ensued between them
  • According to the driver, the female passenger had stabbed him with a bottle during an argument over the fare
  • Meanwhile, the neighbours around the area intervened, the driver was then taken to a nearby shop for treatment as the police have commenced investigation into the matter

Lagos state- A female passenger identified simply as Laura, has been accused by an Uber driver of stabbing him with a bottle during a heated argument in the Agungi area of Ajah, Lagos state.

The Punch reports that the Uber driver, identified as Adewale had conveyed the lady from Ajao Estate to her friend’s house in Ajah on Tuesday, November 23.

When they arrived at her destination, the driver demanded payment, but Laura reportedly claimed that she could not transfer money to him because her bank’s mobile application was not working.

Legit.ng gathers that the 42-year-old driver said the passenger went inside the building to get money from her friends and returned with N2,000.

He stated that he demanded his complete payment of N4,100, but the situation led to an argument, as Laura allegedly used a bottle to stab him for refusing to let her go.

Adewale said:

“I pleaded with her to give me my money to avoid any delay, but she started laughing. I never knew when she went inside, she returned with a bottle. So, when she said that she was going inside without paying my balance, I held her and she attacked me with the bottle. She broke the bottle and used it to stab me in the hand.”

The Ogun state indigene said neighbours around took him to a chemist for treatment, adding that he reported the case at the Ilasan Police station.

A security guard in the area, who pleaded anonymity, said he was asleep when he heard the driver and the passenger fighting, adding that he intervened for peace to reign.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, said policemen had been detailed to arrest Laura, adding that the command had commenced investigation into the case.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that there is brewing tension in the air as Policemen and their family members fled the Division A barrack residence in Akure as commercial motorcyclists popularly known as Okada riders attempted to attack the place.

It was reported that the riders broke into the gate and threw stones into the building while policemen and their families fled through the back gate.

Some policemen scaled the fence and ran away while others struggled to take their vehicles away from the barracks.
