Illustrious Son of The State: Disaster as Gunmen Kill Northern APC Chieftain

A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Zamfara state, Sagir Hamida, was on Sunday, November 21, killed by gunmen along the Abuja-Kaduna highway.
Hamida who was shot dead by the attackers had been a governorship aspirant in the Zamfara 2019 election, The Cable reports.
During the attack, the criminals also kidnapped many travellers, although the actual number of abducted persons is yet to be ascertained, Daily Trust added.

Hamida's elder brother, Kabiru, who spokes with NAN revealed that the ex-governorship aspirant was killed near the Abuja end of the expressway.

Confirming the tragedy, the director-general of media in Governor Bello Matawalle's government, Yusuf Idris, said the state is dismayed over Hamida's demise, adding that details of the development will come soon.
He said:
“I can tell you, my principal is still in shock since the news was broken to him that one of the illustrious sons of the state was killed."
“We shall furnish you with details on this tomorrow when we get more details because right now, the governor is in Abuja attending a crucial meeting.”
Notorious bandit who burnt resident alive shot dead in northern state
Meanwhile, a notorious bandit and cattle rustling kingpin simply identified as Damina had been shot dead in Zamfara state.
The slain bandit had a base in Kuyanbana forest in Dansadau Emirate of Maru local government area of the state.
Damina who had allegedly burnt a woman alive during one of his operations was killed in a clash with a group led by Dogo Gide, another bandits leader.
The deceased was reported responsible for a series of deadly raids, kidnappings, cattle rustling and imposition of levies on several communities in the Dansadau Emirate of the state.
Dogo Gide had warned Damina to stop attacking communities and killing peasant farmers but the latter did not heed the warnings.
