Tension in Imo State as Gunmen Kidnap Former Deputy Governor's Father

Ikeduru LGA - The father of former deputy governor of Imo state, Prince Eze Madumere, has reportedly been kidnapped by gunmen at Iho Community in Ikeduru local government area.

Channels TV reported that the kidnap victim who is aged 89 is the traditional ruler of Ezi-Mbieri Autonomous Community in Mbaitoli local government area.

He was reportedly abducted by gunmen after sporadic shootings on Friday morning, November 19.

Legit.ng gathers that Prince Eze Madumere confirmed the incident and also disclosed that his father’s abductors have contacted the family.

Meanwhile, the Imo state police command said it has already commenced work to apprehend the suspects.

Traditional rulers shot dead during meeting in Imo

In a related development, gunmen recently opened fire on traditional rulers during a meeting at Njaba local government area in Imo state.

About three traditional rulers were feared to have died during the attack with several others wounded on Tuesday afternoon, October 19.

The spokesman of the Imo state police command, Mike Abatam, reportedly confirmed the attack, adding that three traditional rulers died. It was gathered that those who sustained gunshot injuries have been rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

In other news, there was panic in Umulogho and Isinweke communities in Obowo and Ihitte/Uboma local government areas of Imo state on Friday night, November 5, after fleeing gunmen ran beserk, killing no fewer than three persons.

The rampaging gunmen who operated in about three vehicles also burnt no fewer than 10 motorcycles and injured undisclosed number of persons.

At Umulogho, the gunmen whose mission had yet to be identified as of press time, killed three persons specifically at Nwokeisiama junction. The victims, two men and a woman, were found lying in a pool of their blood.
