EndSARS Report: Group Calls for Lai Mohammed's Arrest, Says Minister Lied to Nigerians

Following the release of the final report submitted by the Lagos State Judicial Panel, Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has called for the dismissal, arrest, and trial of the minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed.
The Punch reports that the call was made by the group in a statement released on Tuesday, November 16, saying the minister lied to Nigerians over the killing of #EndSARS protesters at Lekki Toll Gate on October 20, 2020.
The organisation noted that Mohammed's claims have now been contradicted by the Lagos judicial panel.
Mohammed's action was likened to the denial of the Holocaust of the 6 million Jews by Adolf Hitler which is punishable by nearly half a century of incarceration.

HURIWA called on President Muhammadu Buhari to order the arrest and prosecution of Mohammed for committing a grave and heartless offence, the International Centre For Investigative Reporting added.
According to the rights group, if Buhari fails to punish the minister he would be remembered as a dictator who oversaw the massacre of young protesters, adding that generations unborn would never forgive him.

Legit.ng previously reported that the Nigerian government insisted that no human being was killed at the #EndSARS protests in October 2020.
The government's spokesman and minister of information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, made the comment at a press conference attended by Legit.ng in Abuja on Wednesday, October 20.
Speaking at the briefing, Alhaji Mohammed said:
“At earlier press conferences, I had called the reported massacre at the toll gate the first massacre in the world without blood or bodies."
