BREAKING: RCCG Pastor Regains Freedom in Calabar After 2 Days With Kidnappers

  • Sunday Adeniran, a pastor of the Redeem Christian Church of God, has been freed by his armed abductors
  • Pastor Adeniran was set free on Monday, November 15, somewhere in Ikot Ekpo, Calabar, the Cross River state capital
  • The cleric was said to have been released after the gunmen noticed the presence of the Anti Kidnapping and Cultism Squad members

A Redeem Christian Church of God pastor, Sunday Adeniran, has regained his freedom after he was kidnapped by gunmen on Saturday, November 13.

Quoting a security source, Vanguard reports on Monday, November 15, that both Adeniran and a female teacher were released around Scanobo filling station, in the Ikot Ekpo area of Calabar, the Cross River.

The source revealed that the gang members were forced to flee with whatever they could gather upon realising the onward approach of the Anti Kidnapping and Cultism Squad led by SP Awodi.

He said:

“They knew that the Dragon Squad was closing in on them, they had to hurriedly collect about N200,000 and let their victims go.
“Initially they demanded 7 million for their release but had to just collect what they could as soon as possible and dropped them off at Scanobo area in Ikot Ekpo 8 miles at about 2:am."

Tension in Kaduna as suspected bandits kidnap eight RCCG members

Meanwhile, no fewer than eight members of the RCCG Region 30, Trinity Sanctuary, Kaduna, were on Friday, March 26, abducted by gunmen.

The victims were on the church bus travelling for a programme when they were attacked. Legit.ng gathered that a Facebook user, Eje Kenny Faraday, broke the news on his page with a picture of the white vehicle on the evening of Friday, March 26.

He wrote:

“All the passengers in this bus were just kidnapped along Kachia Road, 63 km from Kaduna.”

A credible source and an official of the church, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the report.

The source reportedly said:

“They were eight in number on the bus. They were going to Kachia in preparation for the church’s Let’s Go a Fishing Easter programme. The gunmen took them out of the bus and put them in their own operational vehicle. They have yet to contact the church.”
